MEET MARY
Mary Solomon is an Ayurvedic Practitioner located in Oxford, Mississippi. She enjoys sharing the time-honored wisdom and practical approaches of Ayurveda to support clients’ health and well-being. Also a practicing yoga instructor since 2005, Mary often uses the healing powers of yoga and meditation as adjunct tools for wellness in the Ayurvedic treatment plan.
Mary founded Swaha Ayurveda and Wellness in 2021 to bring Ayurveda’s therapeutic methods of healing to her community. She offers one-on-one consultations, body therapy treatments, Ayurvedic workshops and retreats, private and group yoga classes, and meditation.
My Approach
I have had a life-long love of natural healing and wellness. Growing up in rural Mississippi, my first spiritual home, playground and greatest learning experiences were outdoors. My earliest understandings of peace and harmony with nature provide the backdrop of a lifetime love of pursuing health, balance and well-being. And, as I learned about Ayurveda’s holistic healing methods, I was drawn to its focus on following the rhythms of Mother Nature as a tool for understanding ourselves and as a way to promote balance in our lives.
My approach uses Ayurveda, yoga and mindfulness to assist clients in understanding their own mind-body type (constitution) and to develop an individualized plan toward wellness and health. Our sessions together can range from dietary adjustments, yoga plans, mindfulness and meditation, breathing techniques and healing ceremonies. We begin with a 4-session program to set goals and measure progress. Clients can continue to add sessions as they need or may check in seasonally for a tune-up or book Body Therapy treatments as added benefits.
MINDFULLNESS
Finding balance in the mind is a cornerstone of the Ayurvedic lifestyle and can be a tool for wellness, while long-term imbalance can eventually lead to disease. Mindful moments throughout our day can be great tools for healing and bring clarity toward how we want to live our lives.
Swaha Ayurveda’s program offers personalized guidance to discover and articulate your deep-heart’s intentions. In one-on-one sessions, we help you determine beneficial techniques to balance and calm the mind.
BALANCE
Understanding our own mind-body type, or constitution, is the foundation for Ayurvedic care. We are each a unique combination of the five elements (air, space, fire, water and earth), and as such have general proclivities (and aversions) toward certain foods, climate, activities and personality types.
I love that there is no “one size fits all” plan and it’s my delight to help clients recognize their current state of health, their constitution and how they can use Ayurveda’s lifestyle adjustments, diet and mindfulness to bring balance and vitality into their lives.
DIET & LIfestyle
Life is busy enough, so getting nourished should be uncomplicated and easy. I love sharing simple recipes, suggesting adjustments to daily routines to help bring harmony and balance and offering the mindfulness techniques of yoga and meditation.
These are the hallmarks of an Ayurvedic lifestyle that clients can expect to receive when working with me.
